Lets face it girls we might want to be stylish but we also really, really want to be sexy. So as your personal stylist I’ve been chatting with some of fashion’s most important designers to get their advice on how to look seductive this summer.

One of my absolute faves is Marios Schwab. No wonder the label’s fans include such fashion luminaries as Kate Moss, Clemence Poesy and Chloe Sevigny. This Spring/Summer’s collection has a rebel spirit vibe, plus there are gorgeous lingerie dresses daubed with lace work and tattoo patterns. Since the label began in 2005, the name Marios Schwab has become synonymous with definitely sexy, body hugging silhouettes and elegantly erotic designs. Take this lace-panelled dress as a case in point. It’s tightly fitted and darkly mysterious, with gorgeous detailing.

Here are some of Marios’ excellent top tips on how to dress sexy:It’s all about what is revealed and what is hidden when you get dressed.

Don’t be a slave to trends. Keep your individuality.

9-to-5
Get ready to update your style CV, ladies! What you wear to work is probably what you are actually wearing most of your waking hours. Research has shown that the better and therefore more professional you look in the office the more likely you are to get promoted and to secure a pay rise. So follow my top tricks for looking good all working day long!

1. The best go-to brands for work wear are often those that have tailoring as a high priority. Stella McCartney is a good choice for elegant, feminine and yet still smart investment pieces. I love these slim studded trousers. The cut is perfect and uber flattering.

2. Make sure you look polished by making time for regular beauty appointments so that you can cut down on getting ready time in the morning. A great hairdresser and a fortnightly manicure and pedicure will keep you looking the business.

3. Choose pieces that are well-made but with a slight edge to keep the look modern. Rag & Bone are one of my favourite labels for smart yet sassy office dressing. Try this sleek cotton shirt.

9-to-5
As that diva of the country music world sang, “Working nine to five, what a way to make a living!” Well tell us about it, Dolly Parton…after all most of us now spend a lot longer than just eight hours in the office and what we wear to work is most likely what we wear for the majority of the time. Whether you have an ultra strict dress code or work a more casual, creative job, what you wear can say a lot about your abilities in the workplace so it pays to get it right.

Here’s some top tips and insider stylist secrets to looking good every day, no matter how much you are rushing out the door in the morning!

1. Many people need multipurpose clothes that will work as well for a boardroom meeting as for picking the kids up from school or going out for client drinks. Look for simple, classic basics such a great black blazer, which will work with everything.

2. Keep makeup and hair simple and groomed. Leave overtly fussy or trend-orientated looks for the weekend, unless you work in a more fashion-based industry.

3. Footwear can be key to lifting your look. If you need to look super smart for a meeting invest in a great pair of court shoes to give you an edge. Try these elegant but up to date Kurt Geiger ones.

Finding the perfect dress is tricky but it’s not just about sleeves or no sleeves, the cut, the print, the neckline or the hemline. If you are shopping for a dress for a special occasion then you also want the dress to be show-stopping, but without overshadowing you. As Coco Chanel said “Look for the woman in the dress. If there is no woman, there is no dress” meaning; make sure you are wearing the dress instead of the dress wearing you.

Personally I am a devoted dress-aholic and could write reams on this subject, so we’ll start with some classic tips for choosing the perfect dress (with this beautiful Roland Mouret Janus dress to inspire you) and then later this month I’ll give you my top picks on the best dresses for your shape.

1. Don’t follow trends. If it’s a black tie affair you should be looking to invest in something classic and beautiful, as opposed to completely of-the-moment.

2. The other extreme is playing it too safe. Be daring, be glamorous but always be yourself.

3. Heels will always make you, your legs and the dress look better but don’t think that they have to be super high. Sometimes a chunkier heel can work with a feminine dress but make sure you choose the dress first.

4. If you’re ultra skinny or boyish then you can create the illusion of curves by playing up your waist. If your waist looks smaller than your hips, you’ll appear more womanly.

5. To make your curves look smaller then it’s all about the fabric. Make sure the dress isn’t cut too tight across either the bust or the bum. Anything too flimsy just doesn’t work, go for structured but not clingy.

Finding the perfect pair of jeans is a little bit like looking for meaning in a Sweet Valley High novel. In other words, very very tricky. While there is a vast array of styles available to chose from, it’s picking the right ones for your shape that is the difficult part. With that in mind I have put together some easy peasy tricks and helpful hints to picking the perfect pair, whatever your body shape!

CURVY

1. Don’t assume that only skinny girls can wear high-end brands. James Jeans and Serfontaine both do styles with a 34 inch waist.

2. Choose neat, fitted cuts rather than wide-legged or flared styles that can add volume. A straight leg or slight boot-cut is ideal.

PETITE

1. Go for brands that do a 29inch leg, such as Paige Premium Denim or Siwy.

2. High-rise styles will create the illusion of greater height, especially when worn with heels

BIG BUST

1. A low-waisted style will work best to create some distance between your bust and your waist, giving a more hourglass effect.

2. Skinny jeans are a no-no, as you’ll look top-heavy. Try a slouchier, slightly wider leg, such as J Brands selection.

PEAR

1. Look for large square pockets or pointed ones and avoid rounded pockets, to balance out your shape.

2. Boyfriend styles work well as they hang off the hips and will make you look slimmer.
